The Spirit of Community Action

Each year the National Community Action Foundation Board of Directors gives one special award to someone who embodies the “Spirit of Community Action.” This year’s recipient, Karl Pnazek, has been instrumental in transforming the rural communities of Wisconsin.

Karl pushes all of us nationally to do more. His leadership and legislative ideas, particularly on rural development, are such an asset to the Community Action network.

Karl is from the congressional district of a U.S. House David Obey. During his address to the NCAF Legislative Conference today, Congressman Obey gave Karl one of the nicest compliments one could get. He called Karl the “MVP, the most valuable person” of his district, and went on to say if he were to be in a tragic accident tomorrow, he knew his district would be okay under Karl’s watch.

Karl Pnazek truly is the “Spirit of Community Action,” and we’re proud to present him with the 2008 NCAF Spirit of Community Action Award.
